Margaret Whitley had another standout performance even as the UAB women’s basketball team stretched their losing streak to eight games in the 83-61 loss to Louisiana Tech. The UAB men’s basketball team powered a 63-51 win over UTEP behind a double-double from Trey Jemison. With the win, the Blazers improve to 15-2 and 8-1 in conference play. They remain in first place in Conference USA’s west division. The Blazers never trailed, but they were never quite able to shake UTEP. UAB was first on the board with Jemison scoring off his own offensive rebound. They led by as many as 11 in the first period, but the lead was only four heading into halftime. UAB women’s basketball took another heartbreaking loss to Middle Tennessee 81-78 in overtime. Even in the loss, UAB freshman guard Lindsey Dullard had a career day. The Blue Raiders got off to a hot start early scoring the first nine. The first quarter was an impressive display of three-pointing shooting with the two teams combining for 11 three-pointers and only two two-point field goals.
