UAB played close with Old Dominion but fell 81-75 on their home court. ODU’s Brianna Jackson closed out the game with a layup for the Monarchs with fifteen seconds left on the clock.  Old Dominion (19-5) opened the game with a jumper, immediately followed by a three-pointer for UAB’s (13-9) Margret Whitley. UAB women’s basketball had a dominant performance against Western Kentucky winning 86-70 and handing the Hilltoppers their first conference loss. UAB (11-6) opened strong against the Hilltoppers, however WKU (14-5) quickly took the lead with a three-pointer by Macey Blevins. WKU kept their lead throughout the first quarter due to strong performances by Alexis Mead and Mya Meredith. After a hard fought four quarters, UAB women’s basketball fell short against Louisiana Tech, losing 58-52. UAB (10-5) started the game out strong leading by four points with four minutes left in the first quarter. USGA held a virtual meeting Tuesday January 18th where they approved the 2022-2023 election committee nominees. The election committee is a group of non-USGA members who will help conduct activities the 2022-2023 election. The individuals selected have prior knowledge of how USGA works and will be working with a UAB staff member. A unanimous decision approved Derek Dang, Eleanor Lee, Peyton Perry, Atharva Vyawahare, and Ashley Kim.
