UAB breaks 100 points as they defeat Auburn-Montgomery 101-70 in their first exhibition game of the season. With four UAB players scoring over double-digit points, the Blazers came out in the second half to dominate the Warhawks to by 31 points. UAB only had one game last season to score over 100 points. As the final seconds of the game ticked away, Dylan Hopkins seemed to complete a 40-yard touchdown pass to give the Blazers the lead. A holding penalty, however, would call back the pass as Rice (3-4, 2-1) upsets UAB (5-3, 3-1) 30-24 on homecoming[WCJ1] UAB quarterback Dylan Hopkins threw 19-31 for 318 yards with one touchdown and one interception. UAB (5-2, 3-0) will close out homecoming week with a game against the struggling Rice Owls. This is the fifth annual Children’s Harbor game. The Blazers will be wearing the names of 500 patients at Children’s Hospital on their jerseys. This tradition started when the UAB football program was reinstated back in 2017. UAB has been officially approved to move to the AAC Conference early Thursday morning Oct. 21, with Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, North Texas, Rice and Texas San Antonio. They will go on to compete against current AAC members East Carolina, Memphis, Navy, South Florida, Southern Methodist, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa and Wichita State.
