UAB (4-2) is coming off their first home game win against Florida Atlantic 31-14. Southern Miss (1-5) is going into this game after a loss to UTEP 26-13. Author: Katherine Kirk USGA will continue to advertise the open senate seats in the School of Education, which has no representatives seven weeks into the semester.  Some of the senators were worried about empty senate seats for the School of Education. Vice President, Michayla Jeremiah, says that they have accepted one application for the seat and that the seats will continue to be advertised.   “Right, that’s an important thing. That’s why we opened the applications back up so we can have the school advocated for. We have had an applicant and we will have them present for the senate at a later date,” Jeremiah said. Author: Katherine Kirk UAB’s USGA held an informal meeting September 28, 2021, in the Hill Student Center room 318.   The executive council said they are working on making meeting minutes publicly available. President Angela Lee’s official campaign platform included granting UAB community members access to the Google Drive containing minutes. Meeting minutes should also legally be publicly available according to Alabama statute.   Michayla Jeremiah, the executive vice president, gave a brief overview of what UAB expects of USGA Senators. This presentation included the use of non-school organized meetings and how the meetings should be recorded. Author: Katherine Kirk UAB opened their first Conference USA game of the season by defeating Louisiana Tech 2-0. A foul by LA Tech’s Valeria Rios leads to a shot on goal by UAB’s Kendall Page, rebounded by Asha Zuniga making the first goal of the game in the 52nd minute. UAB takes their second victory of the season against Louisiana Tech. UAB started the game strong with 6 shots, two on goal, within the first half. The Lady Techsters fought hard keeping the score at 0-0 at halftime. LA Tech started the second half with a strong offense, however UAB’s defense kept them from scoring. They welcomed students to the first part of the meeting to discuss the protest that escalated to a fight outside of the Hill Student Center earlier that day. Angela Lee, UAB’s USGA President, said that the man who was protesting by Campus was allowed to be there because he attained a permit from City Hall. The permit allowed the man to protest in a certain spot on campus because it was owned by the city of Birmingham not UAB. The UAB police department was on standby at the event in…
