UAB (2-1) will face Tulane (1-2) of the American Athletic Conference in New Orleans on Saturday, Sept. 25. The Blazers will come into this game after a 40-6 win against North Texas. This will be the Blazer’s third straight away game of the season and their seventh consecutive road since the end of last season.  Tulane is coming off a 61-21 loss to then-#16 Ole Miss. UAB will face off against North Texas this Saturday, Sept. 18 in Denton, Texas. This will be the first C-USA team matchup for both teams. The Blazers (1-1) and Mean Green (1-1) are both coming off loses from last week. UAB lost to the University of Georgia bulldogs 56-7 while North Texas lost to SMU Mustangs 35-12. North Texas running back DeAndre Torrey is a player to watch for the Mean Green. He ranks fifth nationally with 315 total rushing yards. Another notable name is walk-on wide receiver Roderic Burns who leads Conference USA in receptions with 18 and has the third most receiving yards with 255. The UAB Blazers kept the Jacksonville State Gamecocks scoreless in their 31-0 win in Montgomery. Tyler Johnston III dominated the passing game for UAB throwing 17-21 for 320 yards with two touchdown passes. Jermaine Brown Jr. led the running game for the Blazers rushing 78 yards on 14 attempts with one touchdown. DeWayne McBride ran for another 54 yards on 12 attempts. UAB’s Trae Shropshire led the game with five catches for 128 yards and a touchdown. Dy’John Turner led the Blazers defense with six total tackles as UAB kept Jacksonville State’s offense to just 155 total yards.  Jacksonville State’s Zerrick Cooper threw 18-35 for 91 yards. UAB football will open the 2021 season on Wednesday, Sept. 1 against Jacksonville State Gamecocks in Montgomery at the Cramton Bowl. With this being the only game happening that day, the nation will be able to watch what both the Blazers and Gamecocks can do. “I think it’s a big deal for our kids and [Jacksonville State’s] program to kick the season off. Despite a third inning tie, the UAB baseball team was unable to comeback to beat the Troy Trojans as Troy scored nine more runs throughout the game Tuesday night. Carson Knight started his eighth game as pitcher for UAB (10-21,3-9 CUSA) as he pitched for one inning with one strikeout and three runs against him. There would be nine other pitchers for the Blazers as Matthew Reed (0-1) took the loss also having three runs against him and one strikeout for one inning.
