On Friday Twitter released a statement notifying users that they have permanently suspended President Donald Trump’s twitter account @realDonaldTrump. “After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them — specifically how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter — we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence,” Twitter said in the blog post. This decision came following the attack on Capitol Hill Wednesday when Trump’s supporters broke into the building forcing Congress to halt certification of the electoral votes as well as Facebook’s decision…

President-elect Joe Biden’s win doesn’t mean we’re in the clear yet. President Donald Trump has shown himself to be quite keen on sowing chaos wherever he lands, and there’s no reason to think that he’ll stop after he leaves office. His refusal to concede when the election was called for Biden emboldened other Republican leaders to perpetuate myths about the fairness of the election, which will absolutely carry over into later elections. Fries are the only side available, but they go well. I think offering chips as well might be nice just to…

Hannah RicheyOpinion Editorhgrichey@uab.edu Going to parties right now shows an extreme lack of empathy for everyone around you. Thursday night there was a jersey party at Zydeco, a local club in downtown Birmingham. The streets were full of cars and young people were lined up to enter. There was no social distancing in the lines or patio, which might be less concerning if there were any substantial number of masks in sight, but there weren’t. Photo by Hannah Richey You can’t wear a mask while you’re at a club taking your free shot and you probably won’t put it back…
