UAB breaks 100 points as they defeat Auburn-Montgomery 101-70 in their first exhibition game of the season.
With four UAB players scoring over double-digit points, the Blazers came out in the second half to dominate the Warhawks to by 31 points. UAB only had one game last season to score over 100 points.
Justin Brown led the Blazers in points for making 5-7 three-pointers and 4-4 free-throws for 19 points in his UAB debut. Josh LeBlanc led the team with nine rebounds and Tyreke Locure secured five assists.
Isaiah Hart led the Warhawks with 21 points. Jeremiah Bozeman secured a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
It was a defense-heavy first half with the Blazers forcing 13 turnovers from the Warhawks. UAB scored first and lead for the first three minutes. Both teams would have six lead changes up until 15:32 left in the first half where AUM would take the lead 10-9.
AUM had their largest lead of the game 14-10 with 14:32 left, but UAB scored five straight points to retake the lead. Bozeman made a free-throw tying the game 15-15 for over four minutes. UAB went on a 19-14 run to end the first half with a five-point lead 34-29.
The Blazers were dominant in the second half, and UAB held that lead for the remainder of the game. Quan Jackson scored the first six points on an 19-4 run within the first five minutes. Both teams kept scoring, but UAB stayed well ahead ending the game with a 31-point lead 101-70.
UAB will start their season hosting against UNC Ashville on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at Bartow Arena. Tipoff will be at 6:30 p.m., and the game will be available to watch on CUSA TV.
