In a battle of field goals, redshirt junior, Matt Quin stole the show for the green team kicking a perfect five out of five bringing the score to 6-9 at halftime where the score was held until the fourth quarter.
In four fifteen-minute quarters, the green team defeated the gold team 16-6. The Green team’s success is partially attributed to running back Zeus Perryman who scored the only touchdown of the game seven minutes into the fourth quarter.
Gold Team delivered strong efforts defensively, in the fourth quarter they recovered a fumble by the Green Team however they were unable to get into the end zone.
UAB featured potential backup quarterbacks for Dylan Hopkins. Top contenders were Damon Stewart, Jacob Zeno, and Bryson Lucero.
Zeno took control in the first half completing eleven of sixteen passes and gaining 113 yards; however, we saw little of the Baylor transfer in the second half.
After gaining 58 yards in the first half, Stewart was responsible for the final field goal before halftime and the touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Running backs Perryman and AJ Gates showed promise this game. Gates had six total attempts, 33 yards, and one nine-yard reception during the first half and made little appearance during the second.
The Green Team was led defensively by Keon Handley jr., a redshirt freshman responsible for a fumble recovery and an interception.
