The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees has appointed Sid J. Trant as chancellor of the University of Alabama System. Trant’s role as chancellor, the UA System’s chief executive officer, includes overseeing three public universities—the University of Alabama, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and the University of Alabama in Huntsville—as well as the UAB Health System. Trant graduated summa cum laude from The University of Alabama in 1983 and earned his Juris Doctor in 1986 from Georgetown University Law Center.
