Asha Zuniga sets a high standard for UAB women’s soccer. Zuniga, from Lakeland, Fla., plays as a defender and is studying Healthcare Management. In 2022, she was the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year, C-USA Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, C-USA Defensive Player of the Week three times and received the C-USA Fall Spirit of Service award. She is on the UAB Dean’s and President’s lists and currently serves as Vice President of the UAB Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Kelsey Smith sets her team up for success. As a setter and hitter for UAB Volleyball, Smith is a versatile team member and a frequent contributor to each win. During this season’s match against Southern Illinois University-Eastern, Smith earned her third double-double of the season, completing 15 kills and 13 digs in a game. This earned a nod from the All-American University of Illinois Chicago Tournament Team.
