Video Games Celia Shepard, Copy Chief I’ve been playing Terraria with my fiancée because it was on sale on the Nintendo Switch. I’d played it once before, but since that was years ago, the only advice I could give her from my memory was that there’s a steep learning curve. As it turned out, that learning curve applies to both new and returning players. If you can get past that, though, you’ll find that it’s a great and very extensive game. Although it doesn’t have a third dimension like Minecraft (the game that it was seemingly inspired by), it has…

With the fight to destigmatize mental health issues in sports becoming an increasingly important topic in the media, now is the time to reevaluate the pressure we put on athletes. Fans around the world expect athletes to maintain a “win-at-all-costs” mentality regardless of the situation. This has placed an exorbitant amount of pressure on many of the athletes we have grown to adore and love. This pressure can place athletes in an awkward position of deciding whether to focus on their health or continue competing to avoid letting their fans down. Simone Biles is a prime example of an athlete having to decide whether or not to place her…

Television Caleb Wood, Managing Editor I finished “Schmigadoon” over the past week. It’s an homage and parody of many of the Golden Age’s topic musicals from “Brigadoon” to “The Music Man”. While the performances of Cecily Strong and Keegan Michael-Key are good, the best parts come from its supporting cast, especially Kristen Chenoweth. While it most definitely should have been a movie, Documentary (of sorts) Celia Shepard, Copy Chief I’ve been rewatching all five seasons of the “Whitest Kids U’ Know” since one of the founders of it, Trevor Moore, died in some sort of accident a week ago. I’ve…

As the cost of hosting the Olympic Games increases it also brings other harms to the host countries and their local communities with it. We should consider whether new and unprepared countries should be allowed to host the games if they don’t have the facilities required to host them. The Olympic Games bring tourism from all over the world to the host country. The influx of visitors shopping, staying in hotels and purchasing tickets to the numerous events may seem like a great idea for many countries to consider hosting the Olympic Games. However, the hefty price tag of hosting does not outweigh the potential positives. Hosting the Olympics means paying a…

Television Kena Cheatham, Illustrator This week, I’ve been watching MTV’s “Catfish” on Hulu. I usually use it as background noise while I work on different projects, but I’ve discovered that it’s a great show to listen to when you aren’t able to watch what’s going on. “Catfish” follows hosts Nev and Max as they travel around the U.S. to connect couples who have formed relationships online — most of which are lying about their true identities. The show is insanely descriptive when it comes to narrating the steps they use to discover and catch online Catfish. I wouldn’t say it’s…
