Halloween in Birmingham

We’re a couple of weeks into spooky season now, but no worries — there’s still time to get your Halloween fix. If you’re looking for some fall fun, here’s a list of events in central Alabama to squeeze in before Oct. 31.

The pumpkin patch is an autumnal classic

The Great Pumpkin Halloween Pumpkin Patch Festival | Hayden, Ala.

With free admission and a range of activities from pony rides to live music, this festival is open every day during the month of October. For more information, visit their Facebook page.

Ozan Pumpkin Patch Train | Calera, Ala.

For an adult spin on things, Ozan Winery’s October train is open for boarding every weekend until Halloween. The ride through the vineyard comes with a cheese plate and spirit sampling for your group. Seating is limited — so it’s recommended you book early.

And there are a couple of chances to do the Monster Mash this season.

The Rocky Horror Masquerade Ball | Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham

The Birmingham Halloween tradition is back with music, prizes and a live shadow cast of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. You can catch the cult-classic at Sloss Furnaces on Oct. 30. Tickets are on sale now.

Scare Your Face Off Fest XI | Saturn in Avondale

And you could win some prizes for your look at an old-fashioned costume party. Show up on Oct. 29 with your vaccination card or negative COVID test to enjoy the festivities and some live performances. Tickets are available for purchase on Saturn Birmingham’s website.

Well, what’s Halloween without a haunted house or two?

Nightmare at 3008 | Fultondale, Ala.

Nightmare at 3008 is open every day for the rest of the month — and a portion of the proceeds will go to Children’s of Alabama Childhood Cancer Research. Tickets are available on their website.

Halloween Murder Mystery and Dinner and Optional Ghost Hunt | Arlington Antebellum Home and Gardens in Birmingham

And The Southern Ghost Girl Tours is hosting dinner with a twist on Oct. 29. Ticket price includes a meal prepared by a chef and an interactive paranormal investigation. You’ll need to reserve your spot for this haunted mansion.
