The top CEOs of 2016, named by the nonprofit organization TechBirmingham, gathered at Burr & Forman Wells Fargo Tower on Tuesday, Jan. 24 for “Tech Tuesday.”
The panel discussion included CEO of backup data company ThinkGard Paul Franks, CEO of Appleseed Workshop Mike Gibson, CEO of healthcare technology company illumiCare G.T. LaBorde, CEO of mental healthcare software company TheraNest Shegun Otulana and CEO of healthcare company ConcertCare Tanveer Patel.
The panel provided opportunities for entrepreneurs and young professionals interested in the technology side of business to gain insights and advice from the top CEOs of Birmingham. Hosted by TechBirmingham and Burr& Forman, this event also provided individuals an opportunity to gain networking circles within the Alabama technology sector.
Panelists fielded questions ranging from what CEOs and companies look for when hiring employees to new resolutions of the company for that year and from the strengths and weaknesses of Birmingham to how diversity incorporated when building a team within a company.
Patel shared her passion of always assimilating female employees into her company, while Otula discussed the importance of finding the balance between structure and stability within a company.
Other topics that were discussed throughout the panel included the importance of a competent team, the importance of character assessment while hiring, having employees with different viewpoints but same ideology within a company and continuing to build an impressive network in order to allow individuals as well all companies to grow within the Alabama business sector.
