Ways to enjoy Labor Day in the city

Whether you are in need of some Labor Day plans or you’re looking to become a tourist in your own town, Birmingham has many attractions and scenic views to add some excitement to your schedule.

Scenic overlooks: The views are plentiful in the Birmingham area and surrounding communities. Located about fifteen minutes from campus, Bluff Park offers a vast picture of the Hoover hillsides, along with a clear view of the evening’s stars. In addition to the scenery, Bluff Park is home to On a Shoestring Antiques, Bluff Park Ice Cream Shoppe and Tip Top Grill.

Another stunning view can be observed at Vulcan Park and Museum, which is located around five minutes from campus. Whether you’re on Vulcan’s observation deck or taking a stroll along the walking trail, there is plenty to enjoy at this Birmingham attraction.

Bed and breakfasts/hotels: Whether your family is visiting from out of town, or you’re just looking for a weekend getaway in the city, Hassinger Daniels Mansion Bed and Breakfast offers a historic location with fresh amenities. Another historic stay downtown is The Tutwiler Hotel. Built in the early 1900’s, this hotel is rumored to have a few friendly ghosts.
