“Evermore,” a pleasant surprise to Swifties and casual fans alike, was a second surprise in 2020. This album is Taylor’s ninth studio album, being a sister album to her first surprise release “Folklore,” and hits almost every target.
This album has a little bit of everything, considering each song and the feeling it brings.
Each song on this album has its own overall feel, but a select few have a lot more feeling to them.
The best songs in this album are “willow,” “coney island” and “evermore.” Taylor Swift is an amazing artist and has shown she can do whatever she wants and make it work.
“willow,” has powerful lyrics and music and is a great song to add to a rainy day playlist. The lyrics in “willow,” point to it being a love song dedicated to Jack Alwyn, her boyfriend, asking him to take her hand, many interpret this as Swift asking Alwyn to marry her.
One of three songs with a feature “coney island,” is the ninth song on the album and includes a feature by The National. This song portrays a break up or a loss of someone close to Swift. The lyrics and music are great and they run hand in hand together to create an emotional creation that can be listened to over and over again.
The 15th song of the album and title track “evermore,” with the amazing voice of Bon Iver, is overall the greatest song on the album. This song takes Swift and elevates her up to the peak of her genre and shows she is still not done. The moment when Swift and Iver sing over each other, is an incredible moment and boasts the best collaboration on this album.
The overall feel of this album is soothing. This album keeps a good tempo the entire time, and has a steady volume range. The album is soothing and relaxing to the ear, not too loud or too quiet, but just right.
Swift was excited to release the album after her first surprise release in July 2020. The song “no body, no crime,” featuring HAIM, is an exciting tale. The album comes together to join the Swift album club, with the rest of her breathtaking works.
