UAB never trailed as they beat in-state rival, Troy, 77-55 at Bartow Sunday.
A quick 11-0 start put the Blazers in charge early and they never looked back. UAB was faster and more physical, scoring more fastbreak points and points in the paint than Troy. UAB also outrebounded Troy 43-35.
The Blazers were led by 18 points from Tavin Lovan and 17 from Michael Ertel.
Trey Jemison recorded his second double-double in two games putting up 10 rebounds and 13 points in 30 minutes. Jemison also continued his strong blocking with four in the game, the most of any player. He now has 15 blocks on the season through only four games.
For the Trojans, Zay Williams led in scoring with 17 points but found himself in foul trouble and fouled out with a little over a minute left.
The two teams traded fouls throughout the second half with each picking up 19.
The Blazers were strong offensively, shooting 47.4% on the night while Troy was 18 for 59.

The game was meeting number 13 between the two programs. With this latest win, UAB pushes the series lead to 12-1 with Troy’s only win coming in 2018.
This is the first time UAB has started 4-0 since 2008 and only the third time overall.
UAB is set to be in Bartow again at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, December 9 as they face the Mobile Rams of the NAIA. The game will be streamed on CUSA.TV and available to listen to on WJOX 100.5 in Birmingham.
