Even with two UAB players getting injured, they were able to come back late in the second half to defeat Middle Tennessee by double digits.
Tyreek Scott-Grayson dislocated his shoulder within the first five minutes of the game, and Jalen Benjamin had a knee injury in the last two minutes of the game.
Michael Ertel and Trey Jemison led in scoring for the Blazers with 12 points. Ertel also grabbed five rebounds and four assists, and Jemison had six rebounds and five blocks.
Jordan Davis led the Blue Raiders with 14 points as well as a pair of rebounds and assists.
The game started intensely with six lead changes within the first eight minutes. It was not until Davis hit a 3-pointer to take the lead and keep it until the first half ended 32-27.
The Blazers were determined to come back though as they went on a 16-0 run and taking the lead 52-41 with 5:20 left in the game. Within the last minute of the game, the Blazers made nine out of their ten free throws to end the game 63-52.
The UAB Blazers (14-2) will face off against the UTEP Miners on Friday, Feb. 5 at Bartow Arena.
