Tagline: Diverse Voices In Harmony
Birmingham is a city filled with creatives of every type. Aura is passionate about the diverse voices of our school– UAB– and of our local community. We seek to be a platform for those voices to be heard. For this upcoming cycle, we are seeking pieces focusing on harmony, diversity, and the unique talents of our city. Submit writing (poetry, fiction, non-fiction, etc.) or art (photography, videography, physical art, etc.) that you feel resonates with these themes. Established and emerging voices are both welcome. We look forward to hearing your unique perspective!

Please include the following information:
• contact information (email, mailing address, your pronouns)
• short biography of 3-5 sentences (will be featured alongside your work should it be published)
• indication of whether or not you give Aura permission to feature work on Aura websites
• If you are submitting an art piece, list any mediums you used to create the piece. Also include the title of the piece.
The following formatting must be used:
• All text entries MUST be submitted in as Word or files.
• Include your name on every page of the work.
• Length: No more than 5,000 words per submission
• You may submit up to five written works.
• Art submissions may have a maximum of five works per submission.
• All Art submissions should be submitted as a jpg.
As we are focusing on the diverse voices of our community, submitters must have lived in the Southeastern United States.
Any piece submitted to Aura is expected to be the creator’s own original work. Any submissions that do not meet this standard will not be published. Any artist that knowingly tries to submit work that is not their own will not be published and will not be allowed to submit to Aura for two semesters.
No previously published material can be submitted to Aura for publication consideration unless the previous journal of publication stated otherwise. Submitters are responsible in this situation for notifying Aura of the submission’s previous publication, upon submission. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but submitter must notify Aura immediately if the submission is published elsewhere, so the submission can be removed for consideration of publication in Aura.
