Birmingham’s Returning Art Scene

The Birmingham Museum of Art will be hosting the very first in person event since the pandemic from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on August 6. This event is Art after 5: Afrofuturism in the Magic City. The event is free and open to the public. You can also check out a screening of the afrofuturist science fiction film Space is the Place by Birmingham native Sun Ra.

Hi there, my name is Emma Owen and I am a junior majoring in communication studies. In addition to writing for Kaleidoscope, I am a Blazerette and compete in the Miss Alabama Organization. Outside of class, I enjoy volunteering with various organizations in the Birmingham area, including Siren Snuggles, a nonprofit organization that I created and run. Sharing the stories of others through Kaleidoscope is a joy and I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity.
