UAB (2-1) will face Tulane (1-2) of the American Athletic Conference in New Orleans on Saturday, Sept. 25.
The Blazers will come into this game after a 40-6 win against North Texas. This will be the Blazer’s third straight away game of the season and their seventh consecutive road since the end of last season.
Tulane is coming off a 61-21 loss to then-#16 Ole Miss. This is the 11th all-time meeting between UAB and Tulane with the series tied at 5-5.
Tulane had to play in Birmingham at Legion Field for their second game of their season against Morgan State as Hurricane Ida rolled through New Orleans. This will be Tulane’s first official home game of the season.
“Once it happened, they decided to relocate here. It was whatever we could do to help out.” said head coach Bill Clark. “I am really proud of our folks for being hospitable and take care of those folks and giving them a place to practice and stay.”
UAB’s tight end Gerrit Prince and punter Kyle Greenwell both earned Conference USA Player of the Week Honors. This is the first Conference USA weekly award for both players.
Prince was named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week having three catches for a career-best 136 yards and two touchdowns. Greenwell was named Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week having five total punts over 259 yards and a career-bests in punt average (51.8) and career long punt (73).
Michael Pratt, Tulane’s starting quarterback is a player to look forward to watching against UAB. Pratt is currently 45-75 for 586 total passing yards with seven touchdowns and no interceptions on the year.
Tulane’s Kevin Henry is also a player to look out for on their defense. Henry has 18 total tackles on the season with one interception that was returned for a touchdown.
UAB’s run stop defense will play a factor in this game as UAB has allowed an average of 118 rushing yards against opponents this season. Tulane averages just over 177 rushing yards a game.
After Saturday’s matchup between UAB v Tulane, UAB will open their new Protective Stadium on Oct. 2 against Liberty University (3-0).
