This Week in Blazer Basketball

After a long off-season college basketball is set to return to Birmingham. Both Blazer teams will be in play this week against lower-level teams in exhibition games. With both games free to all, it is a great chance for Blazer fans to see the teams in action.

MBB: Nov. 1 vs AUM (Exh.)

Andy Kennedy’s squad comes into the season with high expectations. The Blazers were picked to finish first in Conference USA and return four starters from last year. Eight transfers are also joining the program and are expected to give this team a boost.

Monday’s game will give UAB students and fans their first opportunity to see this team together. The Blazers will take on Division II AUM in Bartow Arena in an exhibition game. The Blazers have a clear talent advantage, and it should be a good chance for the team to pick up a stylish win.

Tickets are free for all to attend. The men’s team tips off against Auburn-Montgomery on Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m. from Bartow Arena.

WBB: Nov. 5 vs Spring Hill (Exh.)

Randy Norton’s squad should be able to take a step forward this year. The Blazers are still a relatively young squad but come into the season with strong anchors from Zakyia Weathersby and Margaret Whitley.

The first chance to see what UAB can do comes in their exhibition game on Friday, Nov. 5 against Division II Spring Hill College at 6 p.m. The game is free to all.
