I don’t know what you did last Wednesday night, but if you weren’t at the “True Colors” art show, you missed out.
In the span of a short hour, seven incredible works of art and one outstanding piece of flash fiction captivated our audience and produced incredible analysis and dialogue. The creators used a variant of artistic mediums—including some that most of us hadn’t even heard of (I’m looking at you, cyanotype)—which kept the audience and presenters alike fascinated at their craft. One of the most interesting parts of the presentation was the way it was organized: our lovely Editor-In-Chief—Ashley Frith—laid it out so the pieces would flow from light to dark, thus creating an entirely new narrative on the queer experience.
I bet you’re really envious, huh?
Well…get ready for this. We even had one of our creators come to read her flash fiction piece and even provide commentary afterward. She noted that as a creative writer, it is integral that you explore perspectives outside of your own; and so her narrative on a romantic queer experience came to life.
Now I know you’re envious.
Don’t worry, though. Despite this being Aura’s last collaboration with Queer Peers for the Fall semester, you can be sure that you’ll see some project between the two of us in the Spring. We hope that you’ll be there!
