With 14 seconds on the clock, UAB’s Tony Toney stole the ball and dunked to push the score to 98-61 to end the game.
UAB (3-0) took down Rhodes College (2-1) 98-61 with five players scoring in the double-digits.
UAB started the first half aggressively, blocking the Lynx from scoring five times.
UAB won the tip and spent the first minute of the game under their own goal. However, Rhodes was able to score first.
UAB’s Trey Jemison picked up a double-double with 12 points and rebounds each. Micheal Ertel dominated in the first half scoring 15 points. He scored three times consecutively in the last minutes of the first half.
Tyreke Locure and Toney set personal season scoring highs 14 points each for the Blazers.
After shooting 72.5% in the first half and holding a 63-24 advantage at halftime, UAB’s overall performance fell short in the second half.
The second half started strong for UAB with a jumper by Jemison followed by a three-pointer by Ertel. UAB gave up 37 points to the Lynx in the second half.
Arness Georgetown II brought a strong performance for Rhodes College, scoring 12 of their 61 points.
UAB played a offensive game going with four dunks, 19-22 in layups and scoring 30.3% from the three-point line.
UAB will travel to South Carolina to take on the Gamecocks on Nov. 18 at 6:00pm. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network+.
