Hosting The World Games 2022 is one of the biggest events in Birmingham’s history, but that doesn’t mean that everyone wants to attend. If navigating large crowds and heavy traffic or watching sports like sumo wrestling just isn’t for you, then here are seven things to do instead:
Go to the Movies
There are several movies coming to the big screen this July. Whether it be blockbuster films, such as “Thor: Love and Thunder” or “Where the Crawdads Sing,” or family movies, like “Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank” or “Minions: The Rise of Gru,” immersing yourself in the cinema with a bucket of popcorn is the perfect activity.

Cheer on the Birmingham Barons
For those who just can’t get enough baseball, The Birmingham Barons will continue to play against the Tennessee Smokies in their six-game series from Friday, July 8 to Sunday, July 10. Fans will also be able to enjoy fireworks, drink specials and much more.

Explore the Birmingham Museum of Art
Even though there may be heavy traffic surrounding the Birmingham Museum of Art due to The World Games, that shouldn’t stop you from going to see the amazing exhibitions. “Light Play,” “Ways of Seeing” and “Expanding Darshan” are the names of the three exhibitions currently on display. Visit the museum and explore the works of so many different artists.

Stay In and Take Care
There’s no rule that states that you have to go out to have fun. Staying in and having a day to yourself can be just as enjoyable as these other activities if you’re doing what you love. Whether it’s watching your favorite movie, cooking yourself a delicious meal or calling up an old friend, do something that makes you happy.
