The American Theatre Guild is set to present Birmingham’s most popular musical, Wicked. The return engagement will open the 2025–26 Broadway in Birmingham series at the BJCC Concert Hall, with 24 performances scheduled Sept. 3–21, 2025. The show is the fourth-longest running in Broadway history and is now in its 22nd year.
Take it from us: Wicked is a must-see. At nearly three hours long, the show captivates its audience with energy, emotion and unforgettable performances.
From the opening number, “No One Mourns the Wicked,” the production sets a high bar and exceeds expectations. Zoe Jensen shines as Glinda, delivering a pitch-perfect performance with charm and precision. Her powerful vocals leave audiences wanting more long after the curtain falls.
Another strong stage presence came from Eileen T’Kaye, who played Madame Morrible with poise and subtle, sinister charm. Blake Hammond was also notable as the Wizard, bringing nuance to the role and showcasing his musicality in “A Sentimental Man.”
The supporting cast also delivered memorable performances. Sean Burns’ performance as Boq was both funny and sympathetic, and Ethan Kirschbaum perfectly portrayed Fiyero’s transition from shallow to selfless. Kirschbaum and Davidson’s passionate rendition of “As Long as You’re Mine” was a highlight of the show.
If you’ve never seen Wicked, now is the perfect time to do so. Grab your friends, get your tickets, and start the semester off great with an entertaining, visually stunning, and heartwarming night.
