Show your school spirit by attending these homecoming events

Movies on the Green 

Oct. 18 7 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. 
Campus Green 

This year you can catch a movie on the Green. Watch Monsters University with your fellow students as a way to wind down after midterms. Be sure to bring your blankets and snacks or even a picnic.

Blazer Showdown 

Oct. 19 7 p.m. 
Campus Green 

Blazer Showdown will be a bit different than the years before. This year it will be located on the Campus Green. Come out on to see teams showcase their talent through dance and skits. In previous years, it has been held in the Alys Stephen Center but will be outside to accommodate social distancing requirements. 

Homecoming Dragon Drive 

Oct. 19 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. 
Oct. 20 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. 
Hill Student Center Room 230 

Now with a new name, the Homecoming Dragon Drive will take place over two days. Students and teams can participate by donating non-perishable food, toiletries, school supplies and gently used t-shirts. Take items to the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership for your team to receive points. This is a slight change as it was previously known as the Homecoming Food and Toiletries Drive as well as the Homecoming T-shirt Drive. 

Gurneys On The Green 

Oct. 20 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. 
Campus Green

This year will be a little different. Teams will check in from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and have an hour to decorate their gurney. Students can vote for their favorite gurney 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and the top three will be voted on at the alumni website on Oct. 21. The winning gurney and team will be in the homecoming parade. This is the first time that the event will take place in this fashion. Previously teams ran gurneys down 13th Street South. 

Fight Song Competition 

Oct. 20 6 p.m. 
HSC Ampitheater 

The Fight Song Competition is back in-person at UAB. At the HSC Amphitheater you can watch teams give their best rendition of UAB’s fight song. This will be the first year that the event is held in person since Homecoming of 2019. 

Blaze The Night Block Party 

Oct. 20 8 p.m. – 10 p.m. 
HSC Ampitheater 

One of the best UAB traditions is back, the Blaze the Night Block Party. Come out to meet new friends and share a moment with old ones as you listen to music, enjoy food and play giant versions of classic games such as Jenga, Connect 4 and Cornhole. This is a slight change as it was typically held in the campus Mini Park and accompanied by a bonfire.  

Homecoming Parade 

Oct. 22 12 p.m. 

The homecoming parade is back this year! You can watch the parade anywhere on the route between 14th Street South to University Boulevard. This is the first time that the parade will be in person since Homecoming of 2019. 

5th Annual BSAC/NPHC Homecoming Stroll Off 

Oct. 22 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. 
Campus Green  

The Homecoming stroll off is back again this year! NPHC organizations will come together to compete on Friday, October 22nd at 6 p.m. on the Campus Green. This event has become a homecoming tradition at UAB and celebrates a long standing tradition within the NPHC organizations as well.  

Homecoming Game 

Oct. 23 2:30 p.m. 
Protective Stadium 

Join your friends and family as UAB takes on Rice University for the first homecoming game at Protective Stadium. Student tickets can be picked up 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Bartow Aren Monday through Friday.
